Logo & Tagline
Pre-K 4 SA is a city-funded initiative with a mission to change the future of San Antonio’s workforce and poverty levels in one generation through high-quality early education. Our first charge out of the gate was to create a logo that was in line with the strategy of the initiative. Every activity and program at Pre-K 4 SA is designed to create a lifelong love of learning. And it all starts with play. Making learning fun and surrounding each child in wonder and awe is the path to each bright future. Since Pre-K 4 SA is based in San Antonio, every aspect of the brand needed to culturally and literally translate well into Spanish.
Brand Standards
In addition to the logo development, I created a brand standards guide including logo usage, brand colors, font families, graphics, voice, and photography style.
The Pre-K 4 SA Brand has several pillars in which it operates:
• Demonstration Sites (Brick and mortar preschools demonstrating high-quality education)
• Family Engagement (Teaching families how to become part of the education process, and live healthier lives)
• Professional Learning (Sharing knowledge and best practices with other preschools and school districts)
• Shared Services (Providing funding, coaching, and more to other preschool and early education centers)
Enrollment Brand Campaign
Throughout my relationship with Pre-K 4 SA, we produced many ad campaigns, specifically for annual enrollment. This is one example. We stressed the PLAY aspect heavily. Pre-K 4 SA is not a day care center —each activity is strategically designed to teach critical thinking and executive function. It’s interactive learning with certified teachers.
Various Iconography
A number of graphics were developed for various programs, segments or pillars. These are graphic representations of their core philosophies: Nurturing Creative Spirits, Instilling A Love Of San Antonio, Inspiring A Hunger For Health, and Cultivating Wonder And Awe.
Brochures & Reports
Quarterly reports. Annual Reports. Community Brochures. Program Sheets. Numerous printed pieces were produced following the brand guide. Many included detailed infographics, original photography, and maps.
Official Website
A large component of the Pre-K 4 SA brand is its website and online presence. While I served as the Creative Director and lead designer on the account, I did not design or program the website. This function was performed by other team members based on my brand guidelines and guidance.
Original Photography & Video
My work with Pre-K 4 SA helped reignite my longtime passion for photography and video. I would frequently go to the education centers to capture photos or videos for marketing materials I was working on, or I would accompany another photographer as the art director. We had an ever-evolving visual library.
